Placerville, CA โ€“ October 6, 2025 โ€“ On October 3, 2025, El Dorado County Superior Court Judge Vicki Ashworth sentenced 30-year-old Joseph Marquez to 12 years in state prison following his conviction for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14.

On August 20, 2025, a Placerville jury found Marquez guilty of sexually abusing the victim over a period of two years. In addition to his prison sentence, Marquez will be required to register as a lifetime sex offender under California Penal Code section 290.
