On February 2, 2026, Kohl Klare Knoefler was sentenced to three years in state prisonβthe longest sentence under the lawβby Judge Smith in Department 1, following felony DUI convictions. The Court also declared Knoefler a Habitual Traffic Offender (HTO) and ordered a four-year driverβs license revocation.
Knoefler was previously found guilty by a jury of felony driving under the influence and felony driving with a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, with an additional finding that his BAC was elevated. This is Knoeflerβs fifth DUI conviction since 2007.
Case Background: Evidence presented at trial showed that, in the early morning hours of April 4, 2025, law enforcement contacted Knoefler after a pickup truck was found stopped in a hazardous position on a public roadway, blocking approximately three-fourths of the lane. Officers observed indicators of impairment, and evidential breath testing later recorded a BAC of approximately 0.16%βabout twice the legal limit. During the DUI investigation, approximately 25 vehicles passed through the area, further increasing the public-safety risk posed by the truckβs location and the defendantβs condition.
This outcome underscores the importance of protecting public safety and holding repeat offenders accountable.
