On February 20, 2025, an El Dorady County jury convicted John Morris Retzlaff on one count of Vandalism and one count of Resisting a Peace Officer.
This stems from an incident on April 4, 2017, when officers from the Placerville Police Department made contact with the Defendant around midnight in a movie theater parking lot in Placerville. In an attempt to flee, Mr. Retzlaff crashed into and damaged two patrol vehicles.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Alex Grotewohl. Sentencing has been scheduled for March 28, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 7 of the El Dorado Superior Court.
