On June 5, 2026, Judge Mark A. Ralphs sentenced Edward Alvarez to a total term of 7 years and 4 months in state prison.

A jury previously found Alvarez guilty of felony vehicle theft and driving on a suspended license. The length of the sentence reflected Alvarez’s prior criminal history and other factors considered by the Court.

The evidence presented at trial showed that Alvarez stole a motorcycle from the Red Hawk Casino parking structure without the owner’s permission. He later rode the motorcycle into the casino’s valet area and attempted to sell it to a valet attendant for $250. The victim had not authorized anyone to use the motorcycle.

While the underlying crime involved the theft of a motorcycle, the sentence imposed reflects more than a single act. It reflects Alvarez’s criminal history and the Court’s consideration of the circumstances surrounding the case.
