How we got here:
Aaron and I received a message of support from Chief Borges last year after the @netflix American Nightmare series was released in Jan 2024. He invited us and Misty to speak in front of law enforcement in March 2024. There, we met DA Pierson El Dorado County District Attorney who invited us to speak at his Science Based Interviewing Conference in May 2024. He has been advocating to get rid of the type of interrogation tactics that investigators used on Aaron, which led this entire case astray from the beginning back in 2015.
Chief Borges offered to write Muller on our behalf, and we asked DA Pierson if he may be able to re-investigate the case since he has jurisdiction considering I was held captive in South Lake Tahoe, in El Dorado County.
And so it began…
Muller eventually confessed to additional crimes which he is now being charged with three, and one is still under investigation.
What we now know:
1. Muller first committed a kidnapping and sexual assault in 1993 when he was 16 years old. (currently under investigation)
2. Home invasion/attempted SA in Mountain View in 2009
3. and in Palo Alto in 2009 (charged and to plea guilty to both Santa Clara cases Friday 1/17/25)
4. Our kidnapping and my sexual assaults in March 2015 (sentenced at the federal and state level to 40 years)
5. 2 weeks later in April 2015, another home 2 weeks later in April 2015, another home invasion/theft that was unreported until he confessed recently. (charged in Contra Costa County)
6. June 2015 home invasion in Dublin, CA where Misty linked evidence to our case. (Sentenced to 10 years concurrent to our case)
Today, 1/17/2025 (ironically exactly a year to the day atter American Nightmare was released), Muller is to plead guilty for those two Santa Clara crimes he committed in 2009, for a Life Sentence.
