On February 2, 2026, Kohl Klare Knoefler was sentenced to three years in state prisonβ€”the longest sentence under the lawβ€”by Judge Smith in Department 1, following felony DUI convictions. The Court also declared Knoefler a Habitual Traffic Offender (HTO) and ordered a four-year driver’s license revocation.
Knoefler was previously found guilty by a jury of felony driving under the influence and felony driving with a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, with an additional finding that his BAC was elevated. This is Knoefler’s fifth DUI conviction since 2007.

Case Background: Evidence presented at trial showed that, in the early morning hours of April 4, 2025, law enforcement contacted Knoefler after a pickup truck was found stopped in a hazardous position on a public roadway, blocking approximately three-fourths of the lane. Officers observed indicators of impairment, and evidential breath testing later recorded a BAC of approximately 0.16%β€”about twice the legal limit. During the DUI investigation, approximately 25 vehicles passed through the area, further increasing the public-safety risk posed by the truck’s location and the defendant’s condition.

This outcome underscores the importance of protecting public safety and holding repeat offenders accountable.
