On January 29, 2024, the Honorable Thomas Smith sentenced Curtis McKenna, 66, to 16 years in prison for molesting two children. McKenna admitted the victims were vulnerable when he molested them and that he had taken advantage of a position of trust and confidence to commit the crimes. The victims later courageously reported this conduct as adults. Although McKenna had no criminal history, the Court determined the aggravating factors outweighed any mitigating ones. The Court sentenced McKenna to the upper term and sentenced each count consecutively, also requiring McKenna to register as a sex offender.
